After India’s defeat in T20 World Cup 2022, veteran players are fiercely condemning the performance of the team. Some are questioning the team’s batting style, while some say that many senior players do not fit in formats like T20. Meanwhile, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has made a big statement saying that he does not want to see some faces of the current team in the next World Cup. The next edition of the T20 World Cup is to be played in 2024 and feels Sehwag .That India should prepare a young team from now on for this world cup

Talking to Cricbuzz, the former Indian explosive batsman said, ‘I will not talk about the mindset but I definitely want to see a change in the players. I don’t want to see some faces in the next World Cup. This happened in the 2007 T20 World Cup as well. The legendary players who played for so many years did not go to that World Cup. A group of youngsters went and no one expected them and I want to see a similar team for the next T20 world cup no one expects them to win also wouldn’t expect them to win but that team will be for the future.

Sehwag did not name anyone during this period, but he is talking about players whose age has crossed 30. These may include captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Dinesh Karthik and some other players.

He further said, ‘If you start thinking about your future now, then only you will be able to build a team in two years. I don’t want to see some non-performing seniors in the next World Cup. I hope the selectors take such a decision. But the problem is, will these selectors last till the next World Cup? There will be a selection panel, there will be a new management, there will be a new approach,So will they change? But one thing is certain that if they go to the next World Cup with the same team and with the same attitude, the results will be the same.
