Duration for precautionary dose, reduced to six month , CG Health Dept issues instruction

In an attempt to protect against Covid-19, the period between the second dose of its vaccine and the preparation dose has now been reduced to six months. Till now it was being implemented at an interval of nine months. Following the new instructions issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Health Department of the State Government has also issued a circular in this regard to the Chief Medical and Health Officers and District Immunization Officers of all the districts. The Health Department has given instructions to inform the officers-employees engaged in Covid vaccination and its wide publicity among the people.
State Immunization Officer Dr. V.R. Bhagat has said in a circular sent to all Chief Medical and Health Officers and District Immunization Officers that on the recommendation of the Standing Technical Sub-Committee (STSC) of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), the second dose and preparation of vaccine to prevent corona. The interval between doses has been revised from nine months or 39 weeks to six months or 26 weeks. The circular said that all the beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 59 years will be administered the precautionary dose at the private Covid Vaccine Center on completion of six months or 26 weeks of the second dose of Covid vaccine. Health workers, frontline workers and citizens above 60 years will be given free precaution doses at the Government Covid Vaccine Center on completion of six months or 26 weeks of the second dose of the vaccine.
